Simulation Study for a Broadband Multimedia VSAT Network

چکیده
We present a simulation approach for assessment of quality of service and bandwidth utilization for a meshed broadband VSAT system over a geostationary (GEO) satellite. The model includes a bent-pipe satellite with a number of broadband VSATs carrying multimedia traffic. A multi-frequency time division multiple access (MF-TDMA) is used with an integrated call admission control (CAC) and bandwidth on demand (BOD) algorithm for uplink from the VSATs. Traffic source models of various multimedia services are implemented along with the CAC and BOD scheme by using OPNETTM. Using this simulation platform, we measure the quality of service for different applications and uplink bandwidth utilization.

Service Integration in next Generation Vsat Networks
Very Small Aperture Terminal (VSAT) satellite networks have so far been successful in the provision of specific communication services to geographically dispersed users. However, user demands are becoming more complex, and VSAT networks are expected to provide a much wider range of services (voice, data and multimedia). We investigate how this service integration could be achieved and show that...

متن کاملA Suitable Coding Scheme for Broadband Power-line Communication
This paper introduces three coding strategies for using the Luby Transform (LT) code in a relay aided power-line communication scheme. In the first method, the relay decodes the received packets and re-encodes them for transmission towards the destination. In the second method, the relay only forwardes a random linear combination of its received packets towards the destination, while in the thi...

A new approach for designing an ultra wideband (UWB) CMOS low noise amplifier (LNA) is presented. The aim of this design is to achieve a low noise figure, reasonable power gain and low power consumption in 3.1-10.6 GHz. Also, the figure of merit (FOM) is significantly improved at 180nm technology compared to the other state-of-the-art designs. Improved π-network and T-network are used to obt...
